Google new project skybender which will provide 5G from solar powered drones.

Google has a new project in New Mexico that includes 5G Internet-compatible and solar-powered drones that have the capability to transmit gigabits of data every second, Which is 40 times faster then the world’s current fastest wireless services, including the ultrafast LTE.

The project, codenamed “Skybender,” they are planning to take advantage of high frequency millimeter waves found on the atmosphere’s electromagnetic spectrum. Then the frequencies device the specific region can transmit data faster and more efficiently.

Millimeter waves has a big problem, in comparison to mobile phones signals, They have shorter range. According to the report, the 28 GHz frequency that has been tested by google at Spaceport America would fade in around a tenth the distance of a 4G signal.

The team behind the project “Skybender” have to figure out how to use a drone of high-flying drones to focus 5G transmission in phased array configuration. Though, this process is difficult very complex and burns a lot of power.

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has granted google their permission to continue the test of the solar-powered drones. But the permit says that the company is only allowed to conduct their experiment in US airspace until July 2016.
