European designers are sending a Russian rocket into space to sniff out methane gas to demonstrate if life existed on the Red Planet.

Another mission to discover life on Mars will dispatch today as a Russian rocket lifts off from Kazakhstan.

ExoMars is a joint venture between the European and Russian space organizations.

The rocket will dispatch two unmanned tests which will traverse space for seven months.

The Trace Gas Orbiter will chase for methane gas in the Martian air and appear in the event that it was created by topography or organic procedures.

Methane is a gas to a great extent created by living life forms and could demonstrate life once existed on the planet.

The second test, Schiaparelli, is a trial lander which will test innovation in front of the later mission.

ExoMars 2018 will send another wanderer implicit the UK to bore underneath the planet’s surface to search for indications of life.

The two missions will cost over £900m, yet in the event that hints of life are found this could be one of the greatest disclosures ever.

Planetary researcher Dr Peter Grindrod, from Birkbeck, University of London, who is subsidized by the UK Space Agency, said: “It’s extraordinarily energizing.

“This is a progression of missions that is attempting to address one of the basic inquiries in science: is there life anyplace else other than the Earth?

“Finding that life exists somewhere else in the nearby planetary group would be a tremendous disclosure, so the proof must be solid.

“As it’s been said, remarkable cases require phenomenal proof.”
